Practise IELTS Speaking with an AI examiner, 15 minutes a day

The IELTS Speaking test lasts 11–14 minutes and has three parts. Candidates rarely lose marks for a lack of words; they lose them because they are not used to speaking at length, to a stranger, against the clock. MOMIC lets you practise exactly that: an AI examiner follows the test procedure, you answer out loud, and at the end you get a band estimate with feedback that quotes what you actually said.

6 units in this program

The units before the mock test build one skill at a time: natural 2–3 sentence answers for Part 1, speaking for 1–2 minutes from a Part 2 cue card, and arguing a point on the abstract questions of Part 3.

Framework: IELTS Speaking band 0–9. Target: Band 6.0–7.0. Mock test criteria: Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, Pronunciation.

About the exam and the program

  • Part 1 (4–5 minutes): questions about yourself and familiar topics.
  • Part 2 (3–4 minutes): you get a cue card, exactly 1 minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes.
  • Part 3 (4–5 minutes): a deeper discussion linked to the Part 2 topic.
  • Four assessment criteria: Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, Pronunciation.

What you should know before you start

Bands in MOMIC are practice estimates based on what you said (transcribed to text). Pronunciation has to be judged from audio, so the mock test marks it “not scored” rather than guessing. Only the IELTS test gives an official score.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MOMIC mock test like the real IELTS test?

The AI examiner follows the three parts in order, never teaches or corrects you during the test, and keeps time, including the 1 minute of Part 2 preparation. The biggest difference is that the band is only an estimate and pronunciation is not scored.

I'm around band 5.0. Can I still practise?

Yes. The practice units (not the mock test) offer answer hints, translations in your language and model sentences on the board. As you get more confident, the hints fade out.

How long should I practise each day?

About 15 minutes: one Part 1 or Part 3 unit and a review of 5 sentences from your notebook. Take the full mock test once a week to measure progress.
